 Sachets

Potpourri blends that will be stitched into sachets do not need to be beautiful, This is the place to use the less colorful petals. These blends are best without bulky ingredients; small, highly fragrant flowers and herbs are best. Lavender, rose petals, lemon verbena, and spices are good in sachets. A little extra oil and orris root helps make up for the fact that only a little bit of the blend will be used in each sachet.

To make a sachet, use any natural fabric. Softer, loosely woven ones allow the scent to spread better.

Choose a fabric to match the mood of the contents: wood, burlap, or muslin for homey spice and wool blends with cedar or balsam, and dainty laces and chintzes for lavender and rose-based florals.
