Chamomile Facial Steam

Facial steams are ideal for brightening up dull, tired skin; however they are not recommended for particularly dry skin. First cleanse your face thoroughly to remove any dirt and grime. Place a handful of chamomile flowers in a bowl of boiling water. Hold your face about 12 in above the bowl and cover your head with a towel to prevent the steam escaping. Steam your face for about 10 minutes, then refresh the skin with a clean, damp face cloth.

Other herbs suitable for this are marigolds, peppermint, sage and fennel.

Peppermint Face Mask

This mask is for a greasy skin as it is extremely drying. Place 1 egg white with 1/4 tsp kaolin in a bowl and mix to a paste. Stir in 1/4 tsp of peppermint extract and add enough water to make the mask the right consistency.

This will improve circulation and cleanse the skin. It is not suitable for dry skins. First, wash or cleanse your face. Fill a large bowl with approximately 2 pints boiling water and add 2 tbsp freshly chopped sage and 2 tbsp freshly chopped peppermint. Hold your head about 12 in above the bowl and cover with a large towel to prevent steam excaping. After 10 minutes gently pat your face with a face cloth rinsed out in cold water.
